Beth Ferris has been chosen to take the place of Deb Payson as the new executive director of the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce. Payson left about one month ago to take a position at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ferris took over her new role on March 4, 2015.
The mandate of the Marblehead COC is to improve the city’s quality of life, “to make it a better, more vibrant place to live, work, shop, dine and enjoy.”
“We had a tremendous pool of candidates with varied backgrounds. Beth epitomizes the qualities we were searching for to lead the Chamber. She has the skills, knowledge, and instincts which will serve the Chamber and its constituents well,” said George Barbuzzi, president of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. “Building relationships is the essence of a successful organization, and Beth has what it takes to enrich our business community through connectivity.”
Marblehead’s Chamber of Commerce has approximately 300 members who pay dues and represents at least 80 types of industries to be found in the area.
“Marblehead truly is a town where ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’,” said Ferris. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Chamber with enthusiasm, build relationships that sustain us, and access the resources our local businesses need in order to thrive and succeed.”
